These answers describe the current hosted Wispboard service.
Do I need an account to draw?
No. Opening Wispboard creates a private local draft in your browser. An account is requested only when you save the board permanently, share it, or open your private workspace.
Can guests open a shared board?
Yes. Guests enter with view-only access by default. The board owner can allow guest editing and can stop sharing at any time, immediately revoking the link.
Does Wispboard support tablets and pens?
Yes. The canvas accepts pointer, touch, and pen input, including tablet browsers. A pen is recommended for handwriting, while touch gestures can pan and zoom the board.
Where are my boards stored?
Local drafts remain primarily in browser storage and have a short-lived pseudonymous recovery copy. Account boards are stored on the Wispboard server and appear in the owner's private workspace.
What happens to inactive boards?
A non-empty account board that stays inactive for the configured retention period may become a downloadable PNG archive. Its existing permanent invite continues to resolve until the owner deletes the board.
Can I export an entire large board?
Yes. Wispboard streams the full canvas into a single PNG rather than delivering separate tiles. You can select PPI according to the required output quality.
Are private boards searchable?
No. Board, invitation, workspace, administration, and testing URLs are explicitly marked not to be indexed. Public informational pages are the only pages intended for search results.
Is Wispboard free?
The current hosted service can be used without a subscription. Voluntary bank-transfer support helps cover electricity, storage, backups, and replacement hardware, but does not purchase additional service rights.
